Declutter | The Carnival

Foreword Welllllllllll - lookie what we got here, it's another fantasy short story to add to the collection. For those unaware, Declutter is a collection of various short stories, all that have been uploaded to this blog, that I plan to release for free via Amazon Kindle. Main idea is to let myself become familiar with the self-publishing system before launching my full fledge novel. I'm also terrified to put that out in the world but that's a story for another day.  The story for today is The Carnival. This is something that I could easily continue and expand upon for future short stories. I'm unsure if this will exist in the From Dawn to Dusk canon or not. But enough of my ramblings - let's dive into this world together.  The Carnival Nathan McHale let out yet another yawn before rising from the red lazy boy chair that had nearly pulled him back into a deep slumber. Thankfully, the sound of the coffee maker beckoned to Nathan and, like any addict, he simply coul...

Burn It Down (Five Nights at Freddy's: Pizzeria Simulator Review)

Foreword It has come to this. The penultimate battle of good vs evil – father vs son – a reviewer vs a really well put together horror game and franchise. Five Nights at Freddy's: Pizzeria Simulator (which I loving short to Pizza Sim cause it just sounds funny) is the sixth installment and the final (Haha – fat chance) game in the Afton story line. This game was released on December 4, 2017 for FREE and has received pretty much universal praise (9/10 via Steam, 7.1 via Metacritic). Perhaps the most lore intensive game, most of the burning questions that remain are answered while delivering both a familiar gameplay style with some exciting new mechanics. Let us descend into the madness for one final time. The Story The game opens, innocently enough, on an atari style mini game. You control Mr. Fazbear himself as he launches pizza pies of your own creation into the faces of hungry waiting children. As you rack up points, things turn south pretty quickly as a shadow Freddy appears to ...

Declutter | A Conversation With Angelica

Foreword Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. The next short story in the Declutter collection is here! As a reminder, since it's been a hot minute since I've been able to post anything to this blog, Declutter is my short story collection that I am releasing for free on Patchwork and then later on through Amazon's self-publishing.  The following is a much more... personal story. Most of my short stories are ideas that I have either from day dreaming or night dreaming. This one is inspired by my own struggles with depression and anxiety but eventually changed into a simple conversation between myself and a character - something my lady love does to help herself work through some of her own struggles. It was something I have never tried to do and figured why not give it a shot. The following is that experiment.  A Conversation With Angelica The cold metal of my apartment's front door felt comforting against my forehead. I let my skin remain against the portal to my personal space for...

Declutter | Escape Artist

Foreword The seventh short shorty for Declutter has arrived! This particular one is an idea that's been floating around my head for quite sometime. Ever since I connected with my online community and was discovering all the different forms of artistic expression we had, I day dreamed about the idea of a group of friends traveling cross country to finally meet and how each one view the world through a slightly different artistic lens. Escape Artist is not that particular story, but the main core idea transformed into what I present to you below. It's also partially a true story, based on how I survived some of the rougher parts of public school by hiding inside the fantastical world of books, video games and anime. Art can be a healthy escape from daily turmoil that we all experience. Emphasis on can, since escape is no substitute for actually addressing the issues that plague society. The importance of art is something I will defend, because that escape enables us the abilit...
