Look Into My Eds | Ed, Edd N Eddy Season 1, Episode 13 Review

Foreword

Howdy! Been... at least one minute since we've last done this thing. It's been so many minutes, in fact, that I have to change my copy/paste intro because HBOMax removed Ed, Edd N Eddy, itself died and was resurrected. Either way, welcome back! The short of it is that I loved Ed, Edd N Eddy growing up as a kid and still hold it highly as one of my favorite shows ever made. To share the overflowing love, I have for this cartoon, I decided to review the entire series episode by episode - never mind how long it has taken me thus far.

Each episode will be reviewed on a 10 point rating scale. I'll be focusing on four aspects of the show and pulling the average to get a final tally. The four categories we'll be measuring are:

The Story - The Plot of the episode, as well as the characters themselves.

The Visuals - Whether they be character, backgrounds or accessories.

The Comedy - This is a “haha” funny show, so it needs decent comedy.

The Scam - The Ploy the Eds concoct to weasel the allowances of the other kids.

With the formalities out of the way, let's dive into episode thirteen of Ed, Edd N' Eddy:

Well... the title card could be worse. Clearly, it's a magician doing some... eyeball magic? Which is a really funny way to refer to the sharingan and the byakugan. Although, he gives more vampire vibes rather than magician. The top hat is doing a lot of heavy lifting. As far as what this says about the episode, it's gonna have stage magic as an aspect. Maybe the Eds set up some kind of magic show?

The episode opens and we see the kids waiting at a bus stop with a poorly drawn sign for the candy store. We cut to Double D riding in a bus - which isn't more than a huge cardboard box sitting on a red wagon. Eddy is driving the bus while Ed pulls the vehicle along like a horse.

The kids are invited on board after paying and Eddy commands Ed with a blow of a horn. The Ed boy takes off, eventually pulling the kids much too quickly down a steep hill. A bit of slap stick ensues as the Eds abandon ship, leaving the kids to their fate. Eddy and Double D end up hanging in a tree, having jumped to safety. Ed returns to his friends, inquiring "What are you doing up there?" to which Eddy replies "Knitting sweaters, you maniac". I'm not sure why, but this gives me a few yucks.

Double D then spots a mail truck and gets overly excited in such an adorable way. Eddy, being the gremlin we... love? Takes the package and begins to rip it open. He sees it's a book, specifically Edd's new psychology manual. Double D explains the fascination with the book and gives us a wonderful meme format. After going through a few ink blots with predictable results the boys stumble upon a "hypnotizing wheel", which Double D proceeds to instantly hypnotize Ed into "becoming what you've always dreamed of". Ed's eyes go white and he proceeds to dance with Eddy, mimicking poses and stances not dissimilar to ballerinas. With a snap of his fingers, Double D turns Ed back to normal.

Eddy, of course, wants to use the hypno wheel for evil. Double D protests, prompting Eddy to ask "Have I ever steered you wrong?" To which Edd answers honestly, "Yes".

The boy subject Kevin first, turning him into some loyal monkey / ape. A bite of slap stick gives us a fade away to Sarah and Jimmy gardening. Kevin invades their space, smacking around a cup begging for coins. Sarah demands he leave them in peace, to which Eddy further antagonizes them. We see Eddy wearing an outfit that resembles the title screen before he hypnotizes both Sarah and Jimmy. Sarah becomes like a frog, hopping around while Double D scurries after, scribbling notes. Jimmy, after seeing Eddy turn his head upside down, becomes a muscle man and shows a few feats of... strength.

Ed demands Eddy turns the kids back to normal after seeing Sarah eat more than a few bugs. Begrudgingly, Eddy complies, and the boys move on to cause more mischief. They find Johnny and attempt to hypnotize him but end up turning Plank into a mindless zombie. Ed proceeds to remove the hypno helm, taking the power for a test. The boys make their way to Rolf, who asks to "scrub" the Ed boys, presumably after cleaning Victor. Ed attempts to hypnotize Rofl and fails a few times before Eddy instructs "Spin it, bean dip".

Ed attempts to turn Rolf into a giant man eating noodle, causing the farm hand to coil around Eddy and pull him underground. He then gets turned into a big, hairy bat and lets out a wonderful yell that I should isolate as a sound bit. After flying Eddy a short distance, he gets turned into a zombie. Ed then attempts to turn him into a scary, fire breathing, radioactive... something, before Eddy begs for mercy. Eddy takes the hypno wheel once more before attempting his final trick.

The boys gather in the cal-de-sac with a projector, hypnotizing all the kids at once. They do various and odd things while Kevin collects what money he can from the kids. Before long, the Kanker Sisters arrive to ruin the Ed's day. Eddy attempts to "mesmerate" Lee, to no affect. Lee confidently states "I won't be mesmerated; I eat my roughage".

Because of her long, red hair blocking her eyes, the hypno wheel had no effect on her. Eddy attempts to move her hair and Lee rightfully inflicts pain upon him. The girls take the hypnowheel for themselves, turning the boys into dogs... I'm sure this does something for someone. The episode fades as Lee throws a sneaker at the boys, who proceed to fight over it.

-The Story-

I'm a little mixed on the story of this episode. It's fine enough but I feel that it may be a bit too simple. The hypnotize / mind master story line certainly isn't anything new and I feel most kids probably go through this fantasy at least once. The overall plot is serviceable, and certain doesn't do anything wrong. It also doesn't do anything unexpected. Of course Eddy is going to try to mind control everyone. Of course Ed is going to try to live out his monster movie obsessions. But predictability isn't necessarily a bad thing.  Originally I gave the story an 8, which feels too high.  I feel that it deserves a more conservative

6/10

Nothing wrong with the plot and it's slightly above average, since these characters can carry pretty much any plot.

-The Visuals-

We certainly get some fun imagery this time around. The zombie like eyes the hypnotized get, the strange way their bodies contort and move unnaturally, and Rolf's entire segment are key highlights. The props and outfits Eddy uses are fine. The hypno wheel is as expected and the cap and hat add an element to it. I think everything looks really nice. Easy

8/10.

-The Comedy-

Some great slap stick is on display here. The bus mishap, the way the hypnotized move and change, and, as I said before, Rolf's entire segment was great.  A few great lines from Eddy and Double D earn this episode a

8/10.

-The Scam-

So. I'm torn. Certainly some tomfoolery went down. But the hypno wheel certainly doesn't fit my criteria for of a scam but it has the spirit.

There wasn't a product or attraction that was shoddily made to trick the kids but there was a "magical" device that makes the kids do Eddy's bidding. There's a time capsule episode later in the series and I can certainly see our boys looking back on the hypno wheel with fond memories. I think the wheel deserves a

8/10

-Final Tally-

8/10

I'm rounding up a bit but this is a really good episode. I enjoyed it quite a bit and I think it deserves this kind of recognition.

My opinion is my own and it has been forcibly injected into your eyeballs and I would like for you to return the favor. Leave a comment! Yell at me on socials! Talk with me about my favorite things and I will love you forever. Happy Reading!

The Best Girl | HuniePop Girls ...For All The Marbles

Foreword A quick disclaimer, ranking people based on attractiveness is gross and I'll punch you if you do this. That being said, the HuniePop girls are both fictional and exist solely for degenerates like me to enjoy , so we can make an exception, I'm sure.  For those of you who are somehow uncultured, HuniePop is a dating simulator game that utilizes a match 3 puzzle mechanic to develop your relationship with a cast of 12 ladies, eventually leading to sexy times. Each girl, for the most part, envelops a particular character type, such as Tiffany being the sweetheart or Nikki being the gamer girl, with some slightly deeper personalities.  AND AS SUCH, there can only be one best girl, which is what we'll determine here today. ... I never thought this would be my first countdown but it somehow feels fitting.  Number 12 - And Worst Girl.  Audrey I have many opinions about Audrey. (And certainly, didn't just do a short internet search to see if I'm missing something.) ...

Ragdoll Ramblings | April 2025

You know. I think there needs to be some form of acceptance in all of this.  Life is… difficult. Of course, I'm working towards making it a touch easier but there's always going to be some kind of strife happening, at the very least, in proximity to me. Whether it's the personal storm that swirls in my psyche or my country drop kicking its economy and morals into the nearest trash heap, I fear times are always going to be eventful.  While I'd love to be a machine that runs on spite, sometimes I succumb to the storm. And lately it has been raging but “Heave ho, onwards we row”.  Soooooo to give the tl;dr on the content:  L oveSeat has a few unedited videos but the final few still need to be recorded. I know it's April. Be nice.   RPG Sunday is fully edited and scheduled, which has been great for progress. I'm at the point where I'm streaming and uploading a VOD almost the same day.  Monday Show has no progress Retro Tuesday VODs are unedited but w...

My Experience At Awesome Games Done Quick 2026

I have been watching the speedrunning charity event, Awesome Games Done Quick, for about 10 years at this point. It is a gaming marathon where a list of gamers (called runners) play a video game on stage (and streamed online) to beat said game in the shortest amount of time possible, utilizing both advance skills and technical exploitation. Awesome Games Done Quick, abbreviated as AGDQ, has benefitted the Prevent Cancer Foundation and to date has raised just under 30 million dollars. For the last three years, AGDQ has been held in my backyard of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and this year I had the good fortune of being able to afford two badges (one for myself and one for my lady friend) as well as an overnight stay in the hotel the event was being ran at. Since I've been wanting to ramp up my creative works, I figured I would take some time to write about my first time experience and what this event has done to me.  The Pre-Pre-Show As stated above, I believe it was 2016 when I first ...
