Nintendo Wins E3 (Day 3 Recap)

Image
Dusk of the Final Day Yesterday I was discussing the past 2 days of E3 with my friends. I made a comment, being mostly disappointed in what was shown. I said "I miss the days of E3 when big bombs were dropped... Like Nintendo announcing a new Zelda."  Today. Nintendo dropped bombs. But let's unpack it slowly.  Nintendo's Conference Before the show began there was talks about who the new character in Smash woul be. A lot of speculation but none of it towards the Dragon Quest characters we received. The show opened with the reveal of some characters I didn't know the name of. I just couldn't help but think about everyone who would undoubtedly be disappointed.  We went into the direct with talking and a cute skit concerning Bowser and the new Nintendo of America CEO, Doug Bowser. Gotta say, love ya Doug. You're a great replacement for Reggie. Then Nintendo showcased Luigi's Mansion 3. The premise seems to be that Luigi a...

The Hype Train is Going Strong (E3 Day 2 Recap)

Dawn of the Second Day Time has marched on, leaving the exciting news of yesterday behind so that we may usher in the hype of today. Here to bring us that hype was Ubisoft and Square Enix. They each announced a plethora of things but only some truly excited me. Let's start with the former .  Ubisoft E3 Conference Ubisoft started off strong by showcasing the next Watch Dogs game, subtitled Legion .  The biggest selling point for this game is the ability to recruit and play as any NPC. The gameplay looked well enough, couldn't really spot new changes. This one I'll keep my eye on, if for nothing more than the ability to be a super spy as an old woman.  The next exciting news was a new IP called Gods and Monsters. I got huge Breath of the Wild vibes from it and that's a very g...

That Special Time of Year (E3 Day 1 recap)

Dawn of the First Day E3 is finally upon us. Yesterday Microsoft and Bethesda held their press conferences and revealed all that they are planning. Devolver Digital also made an appearance near the end of the night. I decided that I wanted to go over what was shown and talk about what I'm most excited for. Microsoft Conference Is it strange that the revel of Keanu Reeves staring in CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 was the best thing we got out of the conference? I didn't think so. At the end of the trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 we got a sneak peek at the actor's charcter, depicted above. Moments later, Reeves came out on stage to an incredibly warm reception. He deserves all the love he was receiving and I'm excited to see him star in this game. However, still can't help but express my disappointment in the lack of gameplay we got. We may have gotten a few story hints here and there but ultimately nothing was truly shown. Don't get me wrong, I...
