 Dusk of the First Day

8736 Hour Remain

New year, new beginnings - so and so forth. I'd be lying if I said that I didn't also fall into the trap of trying to reinvent myself in some way each year only for it to crash and burn.

To increase my chances of success, really the only thing I'm working on is my discipline in relation my creative work. Surely, I can spare an hour a day writing. Easily I can spare an hour a day recording or editing videos. We'll see how it goes. I mean, I am kinda forcing myself to write even this even though I'm a sleepy baby.

For the tl;dr club that just wants to see what I'm trying to work on or where certain projects stand:

  1. Writing
  • Still working through Season 1 of Ed, Edd n Eddy reviews. All the notes that I need for it have been done for a hot minute. Episode 13 is currently in production. As with the change to the YouTube, I'll probably wait until the whole Season is finished before I start releasing them. If I'm able to keep pace of an hour a day, I may be able to have it done by end of January.

  • A Collector's Wager, my full-length novel, is in its final edits. This, of course, takes a bit more time and care as I'm obsessed and need it to be perfect. It was always in the plan to have the first four chapters available for free, so I'll upload them to the blog at some point. I am currently working chapter 3's final edits. This will eventually be self-published, probably through Barnes & Noble cause I don't want to rely purely on Amazon for revenue. I haven't fully decided yet.

  • And the backlog of video game reviews still grows. My intention was always to write a review once a Let's Play / Stream of it was completed. Following that rule, I'm clearly behind. Although, this appears to be a much easier hill to climb, since my LPs are taking forever and a day to complete.

    2. YouTube

  • Love Seat Season 2 is once again in production. I've completed a short intro video and will begin filming in the coming days. A 14 episode series that already has episode one on the YouTube.

  • 365 Day of Animal Crossing: New Horizons - The game is five years old and I am doing my damnest to actually complete what I set out to do. I think, with my newfound determination, I'll actually be able to continue this in the way I want.

  • RPG Sunday - I'm now fully into editing and uploading season 1. Since RPGs take forever, I'll probably get a back log of 10 episodes before I start releasing them regularly.

  • Let's Play Earthbound - Still catching up to where my progress left off at. Recently switch from PC emulator to the SNES app on Switch. I'm at the Giant's Step boss, so I'm not too far from where the LP is. I have it planned for 50 episodes, so it'll be some time before I'll begin to release new ones. Excluding holiday series, all of my efforts are going to be poured into Earthbound.

  • Retro Tuesday - Season 4 is fully edited and uploaded. All that stands left is descriptions and thumbnails. Seeing as I'm going to have an abundance of free time in the coming week, I should be able to have things ready for release in a few days, really. Exciting! Season 5 edit has also begun, but that is mostly because an RPG Sunday had a Retro Tuesday episode attached to it.

  • Let's Play #hasicontent - The next Wednesday upload after I get Earthbound edited or at least in a good position. It'll be a single episode Let's Play, seeing as it is a short itch.io game made during a jam. Planned, but not yet started.

  • Thought Thursday - Season 6 is fully edited and uploaded. Just like with Retro Tuesday, all that remains are descriptions and thumbnails. Uploads will probably start within a week or two, just as Retro Tuesday. Exciting! Once uploads complete, Season 7 edits will begin.

  • Let's Play The World is Not Enough (GBA) - Still sitting dormant until Earthbound gets to a good spot / finished. Although, this is planned for 8 episodes, so I only have about 5 more to record. It really could be completed within a day or so, if I were to put my efforts into it.

  • Bonus Stage Saturday - As you may have seen, the 24 hour stream has been uploaded, in parts, to the YouTube every Saturday. We're about halfway through the uploads. I believe the next series that will replace it will Naruto Ninja Storm, but Bonus Stage will always be a spontaneous and whatever kinda schedule.

    3. Twitch
  • RPG Sunday - We need to get back to Octopath Traveler. If memory serves, we are about to do Hannit's Chapter 2. But my memory has never been something to be proud of. I'm determined to start up the streaming rotation again and to stick to it as best as I can.

  • Retro Tuesday - We've very nearly beat Mega Man Zero. On New Years Eve, I made it to the final boss and, in true Mega Man fashion, it proved to be frustrating and very difficult. I know I'll be able to beat it, most likely next stream, but I needed sleep and took a break for now. There's still a good chunk of Mega Man games to get through before we can switch series.

  • Thought Thursday - We're on the final case of Trials and Tribulations and are doing our best to reach the end. It is a loooong case and we'll be at it for a few streams yet.

  • Bonus Stage Saturday - Will never have a structure ever and don't expect one. Please let me have this. One that is easy and low stress. K thanks.

Yes. Apparently, that is a tl;dr version of my thoughts. No, I'm not sorry for going on. As I will do some more.

Ramblings

Gosh, what has happened since the last update. I recall stating I was going to try to redouble my creative efforts but the stresses of my living conditions once again proved that to be challenging, as I'm sure they always will. I decided to take things easy as I acclimated, and now I've found new determination.

Put simply, the energy I'm taking into 2025 can best be said by Kendrick Lamar "I deserve it all".

My lady love and I fell into financial hardship, however I have nothing but determination to buy a house. And it seems so possible and so near. If the winds are fair, I should be either purchasing a house or in my own place again by May. In short 5 months, I'll be in a place I can actually call home again.

Before that I do need to purchase a vehicle, because everything likes to fall apart at once and I've been driving a rusted, terrible piece of machinery that we've named Bruce. I hate him so much and in the next months I'll be shipping him off to be patio furniture.

Christmas went well. I even have a stream proving such, where I got a new laptop from my lady, which is also why my ability to create once again seems possible. This is the first gaming machine I've ever own and, fortunately, it came with a three month trial of GamePass and I've been loving it. I beat Wolfenstein: The New Order recently. It was aight. Ending boss was frustrating but I found some decent cheese that let me actually beat it in the wee hours of the morning. Outside that, I purchase Death Stranding recently and somehow have remained unspoiled, so I'm super excited for that. All the games I own on steam are also now available to me. I see a world of possibility.

Other than my PC, I also got Pokemon Scarlet and Echoes of Wisdom. Echoes of Wisdom is very, very good. Scarlet is aight. I haven't played too much of it yet. Things are good and chill and I'm happy with video games.

Saw Sonic 3 recently, and while I didn't care for the 4D seats that we had, I did enjoy the movie. Jim Carry does his thing, which is fine but I felt that it took away from the character that is Eggman. The actual Sonic and Shadow moments were rad as heckin, though. I still argue with Reonan89 over how good the movies are. I still have preference for Super Mario Bros. but I am a bit of a fanboy, I admit.

AGDQ starts in like, three days and I am so gosh dang excited as I am every year. Super disappointed I can't be there in person, especially since it is in my hometown once again. Nonetheless, it is always a good time and I will always try to take my PTO during it. It's gonna be a good week.

I'm running out of ramblings, so I guess it is time to wrap this up. If you made it to the end here, big preesh. Truly, it thrills me that you would read the words that came out of my fingers. Take this is a good sign that I'm going to do my dingidy dangest to make stuff again. Check out these cool links to my socials and such. Okay, byyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Ragdoll Ramblings | April 2025

You know. I think there needs to be some form of acceptance in all of this.  Life is… difficult. Of course, I'm working towards making it a touch easier but there's always going to be some kind of strife happening, at the very least, in proximity to me. Whether it's the personal storm that swirls in my psyche or my country drop kicking its economy and morals into the nearest trash heap, I fear times are always going to be eventful.  While I'd love to be a machine that runs on spite, sometimes I succumb to the storm. And lately it has been raging but ā€œHeave ho, onwards we rowā€.  Soooooo to give the tl;dr on the content:  L oveSeat has a few unedited videos but the final few still need to be recorded. I know it's April. Be nice.   RPG Sunday is fully edited and scheduled, which has been great for progress. I'm at the point where I'm streaming and uploading a VOD almost the same day.  Monday Show has no progress Retro Tuesday VODs are unedited but w...

Alien: Romulus Reminds Me Horror is Good (Review)

Foreword I have a very particular taste in horror movies. When I was young and first discovered horror, I became obsessed with it. I may be able to trace that obsession back to video games with what little footage I saw of Resident Evil 4 and how desperately I wanted to play it, despite being far too young to purchase it myself. It could also be a product of the fascination with ghosts and spirits and demons I had. Regardless, I've consumed a fair bit of the horror genre as a whole. I've played numerous games, own several books, and have watched many movies, shows and videos. Perhaps this is why I have a love and hate relationship with horror movies.  I believe the problem, which is an issue for fictional media as a whole, is that horror relies heavily on the unexpected. If you've ever seen John Carpenter's Halloween, you've seen every slasher flick. If you've seen The Exorcist (I haven't. Be nice) you've seen every procession movie. If you have past ex...

The Best Game I've Ever Played. No, I Will Not Explain (Outer Wilds Review)

Foreword What is the point? To be more accurate: why do we as people decide to do anything? The necessaties are easily explained by being required for us to survive. That's also not really what I am addressing. It's the finer things that I want to put into focus. Why am I writing this review? Why are you reading it? Why did either of us play Outer Wilds? When you strip away our need for food and shelter, what reason are we left with to do anything? Indeed, what is the point?  To experience life.  Truly, the reason why we exist is... simply that. We are here to exist and to bear witness to the world and universe and the indescribable mysticism that our existence contains. The main focus of Outer Wilds is not to answer the big question of why nor does it attempt to but by playing the masterpiece that is this game, that question ultimately gets answered. The point of Outer Wilds is to experience the game for what it is. To witness all that it has to offer. As such, it is ab...
